This week, in the Guildford Table Tennis League, saw the second round of the Handicap  Knockout Cup with places in the quarter finals at stake in this very competitive contest run by Mick Stanners, Mick showed his handicapping prowess in the match between Bramley E and  Woking where Woking won on countdown by ten points after the six all draw in games.  Alan  Edwards, Pete Voice and Mark Feiszt were the ‘Main Men’.  Godalming D, last year’s winners of the event, look good for a repeat taking out Cranleigh by 6.5 to 2.5 despite some close matches. Tony Harrison starred for Ash in this one- There were a lot of very tight matches, mainly in Ash’s favour.

In the league some teams caught up on  unplayed league fixtures. Burymead B were busy consolidating their second place position in the Premier taking out Burymead C 7-3 and Cody A 10-0 with super tactician Richard Tanner unbeaten and riding high in the averages with 87 percent. Godalming A, still with two 100 percenters Laws and Viterbo  crushed a good Burymead A side 9-1 as they, and I know I may regret this statement, roll on to the Premier title. Merrow B and Godalming B fought out a five all draw with Simon Vine starring - three singles plus the doubles partnering Danielle Kelly.

In the fourth Division Woking B eased into second with a 10-0 victory over Godalming P
